YAWGOOG 2008 – INFORMATION

NOTE: The term "campers" refers to Scouts and adults

Scout cell phones are not allowed

Pay phones can be used by Scouts with a note from their Scoutmaster.

Fishing gear is the only program equipment campers (Scouts and adults) can bring to camp (no archery equipment, bikes, rifles, skateboards, etc.)

Scouts must use the buddy system whenever they leave the campsite (going to the trading post, program areas, swimming, merit badge classes, etc.)

Scouts less than First Class should sign up for the New Frontiers Program 

First year campers will receive a Yawgoog patch from the troop.

Campers should inform Mr. Billig or Mr. Ruderman of any patch segments they earn:

o Rappelling

o H.A.T.

o AI (low C.O.P.E., up to age 13): AII and AIII (high C.O.P.E., age 14+)

o Kayaking (age 13+)

o Skipper (sailing)

o Canoeing

o Trap (age 15+)

o Rifle Shooting

o Yeoman (archery)

o Challenge Valley

o Ecology (participate in any activity at the Nature Center)

o Campcraft (participate in any activity at the Campcraft Center)

o Eagle (earn any Eagle-required merit badge)

o Worship (participate in daily worship service – Jewish, Catholic, or Protestant)

o Geoscouting

Scouts camping at Yawgoog for the first time can earn the Bronze CY.

2nd year Scouts can earn the Gold CY if they have earned the Bronze CY (Handschuch and Ruderman are eligible).

Scouts may participate in the following competitions:

o Fishing derby, sailing regatta, canoe race, marksmanship medal, National Archery Association medals.

Scouts may earn the following:

o Paul Bunyan Award, Snorkeling BSA, Lifeguard BSA, mile swim.

Junior Leaders may take Totin’ Chip instructors training.

Patrols may try for the Honor Patrol Award.

Benefit swim is for swimming instruction Mon-Fri, 2:00-3:30.

Troop 12 can challenge any other troop to any competition.

Chicken barbecue is available to families coming to camp on the closing Sunday, 11:15-12:15. The cost is $7.00 per person and we must resister them when we arrive at camp so please let us know and pay for the meal by the time we leave on July 25th.

Adults may veg-out at the Factors Club. They may read, chat with the old-timers, enjoy the goodies provided, work on their laptops, and recharge their cell phones.
